So, a number of my closest friends have done the big chop. Biola did hers last year and now has close to 6 inches of new growth. And now I just got an iMessage from my other wifey aka Omoboluwaji! A pic of her with her big chop, I am so excited!! lol. For those who are scared don’t worry you are not alone in your TWA (tinny winny afro) journey.

Here’s a video I found motivational to watch by Tiffany Marie Scott

Here’s another lady’s experience, she’s called ColouredBeautiful

Coloured Beautiful also talks about her routine in her TWA stage. Have in mind that your hair texture might be different and your hair might react to certain products differently. Also, avoid being a product junkie.

Get inspired by some simple styles by Lolapopxx using headbands. You might want to stock up on those 😉 Once again her hair texture might be different from yours but work with what you have and pick up the main techniques that will work for you

Another styling option for TWA ladies 0-3months post BC is done by MsVcharles. Once again, if your texture is different your end product may not necessarily replicate how her’s looks. Try and see if you want to rock it in your own unique way.

A final vid I will be showcasing on here is by MsNaturalBeauty123. You could vary yours by doing flat twist or just normal cornrows.

That’s it for today loves. Now get into searching for more style inspiration for yourselves or just create yours in your head. Hope I have motivated as well as inspired you to keep going. Wishing you the very best in your hair journey.

Kisses,
Lady P.

Thanks for this post. Very encouraging. I’m so excited about transitioning to natural. I will skip the twa though. I’ll probably transition for 18 to 24 months and chop when I have a big ol ‘fro. Btw, you are your hair are just beautiful!

The pleasure is mine 🙂 Definitely an option to retain length without going through the short phase though dealing with the two textures will require some extra patience and skill. Thank you so much for the compliment. P.S. Your relaxed hair looks healthy, I am sure your natural hair journey will be as successful.xoxo

Hi. I just stumbled onto this blog and that was a great day for me. Not many know how to take care of natural hair and I was one of those. I had my big chop today and i have a TWA, like 2 inches length and I am loving it, so i will rock it for a few weeks, get to know my hair then maybe do braids or chunky twists. Thanks.
